When is my case over?

You should get a Final Discharge 4 to 6 months after you file your case. This means you no longer owe the debts that can be forgiven in a bankruptcy. Your bankruptcy is almost over.

A few weeks later you will get a notice that says your case is closed. This is the last notice you will get. Your case is over.

Filing without a lawyer

  • Bankruptcy is complicated. Filing without a lawyer is risky.
  • You can lose property and money. You can go to jail if you do not tell the truth.
