Domestic Violence and Housing

Produced by Greater Boston Legal Services
Created October, 1999

Finding a safe place to live or making the place you already live safer may be among the most important steps you will take to protect yourself and your children from domestic violence.  Victims of domestic violence who are not U.S. citizens or do not have a "green card" may face additional problems in finding safe housing.

This section has information about finding safe housing and making the place you already live safer from domestic violence.

This section also has information for victims of abuse about laws that protect them against eviction and housing discrimination.
