Most households do need an interview at recertification. Most are interviewed by phone.  106 C.M.R. §§ 366.320(B), 366.330(A).  This is similar to the application interview. See Does DTA have to interview me and what happens if I miss the interview?

There is no interview required at recertification if:

  • Everyone in your SNAP household is elderly or a disabled adult;
  • Your household has no earned income;
  • You sent back your Recertification on time; and
  • You send DTA all the verifications they need for any changes, and nothing is questionable.

DTA may send you verification checklist asking about reported changes to shelter costs or medical expenses. DTA will schedule a recertification interview for an elder or disabled household if you ask for one, the information you provided is questionable, or your SNAP case is going to close.
