Getting Laid Off

Reviewed January 2019 - Greater Boston Legal Services

If I am laid off, what are my rights?

If you are laid off, you have a right to be paid on your last day of work. You may also be able to get Unemployment Insurance (UI) benefits.

When should I get paid?

If you are laid off, you should be paid on your last day of work. This may be the day you are told that you are being laid off or later on. On your last day, your paycheck should include pay for any unused vacation time.

Find Legal Aid

You may be able to get free legal help from your local legal aid program. Or email a question about your own legal problem to a lawyer.
