All children in Massachusetts have the right to an education. All children have the right to a free and appropriate education.
Appropriate means that your child's school district must make sure that they are teaching your child in a way that he or she can learn.
- Some children need to be taught in a language other than English because they do not speak English.
- Some children have suffered from seeing violence or living through it. Schools need to find ways to help these children feel safe enough to learn.
- Some children have a disability or learn differently. Teachers and schools need to find ways to teach so your child can learn.
