Many problems with landlords and tenants can be solved without going to court. But if you have tried different approaches and your landlord refuses to obey the law, you may decide that the best or only way to resolve your problem is to take your landlord to court.

This chapter tells you what a court can do for you and the legal reasons you may have to sue your landlord. If you decide to take your landlord to court, Chapter 14: Using the Court System will tell you how you can file a court case.
