If you are low income and can't pay your heating bills, a winter moratorium prevents gas and electric companies like Eversource, National Grid and Unitil from shutting off your service between November 15 and March 15.
You may also be protected from gas and electric shutoffs at other times of the year if you are living with
- an infant,
- a seriously ill person, or
- all adults are age 65 or older.
